Personal Interest Story:

I have decided to write my personal interest story on a club that I attend here at NJHS, called Anime Club. Anime is a form of cartoons that originate in Japan, and are usually published as graphic novels called manga, before they become actual animes. Animes usually come in both English and Japanese(with subtitles), depending on what the watchers prefer.

I am writing about this club because I find it to be a place where all anime lovers can come together to watch anime, discuss anime, and truly enjoy the company of other anime lovers.

The Anime Club holds special themed meetings to make all the members happy. Some examples are trading card day, cosplay day, (cosplaying is basically dressing as your favorite anime characters), anime movie day, and many others. The leaders of the Anime Club also hold many contests to showcase the member’s talents. These contests include anime drawing contests, fan fiction writing contests, cosplay contests, acting contests, and voice-acting contests. Also, one Saturday out of each month, the leaders schedule a meeting outside of the school, usually at the local Comic Quest, to just hang out and enjoy themselves in an environment that is more suited the club.

I had the opportunity to speak to one of the leaders of the club, Caleb Olsen, to discuss the club. He explained to me that the sole purpose of creating the club was to share his love of anime with others who enjoyed anime as well. He also told me about the anime that he likes the most, and suggests others to watch. This anime is called Attack on Titan, and Caleb explained that it was great for first-time anime watchers.

I truly enjoy the Anime Club and I hope others may join and love it as much as I do

Fact of the Day:

If you try to suppress a sneeze, you can rupture a blood vessel in your head or neck and die, or if you try to keep your eyes open by force when you sneeze, you might pop an eyeball out.( I know that this may seem unrealistic, but it is a true fact.)
