Book Review: The Scorch Trials WARNING! Spoilers if you haven’t read the book!!!!!
In this book, the second in The Maze Runner series, Thomas and the other Gladers have just been rescued after getting out of The Maze. They are all taken on a bus to a building where they are all separated into rooms with the boys in one and Teresa, the only girl, in another. During the night many things happened that resulted in a new member of the group and Teresa missing. They receive food and water after several days in the building all alone and are sent by a man to the Flat Trans, where they trek with several of them dying of mysterious contraptions. Once they get out, they are on a really hot, desert, flat surface where they try to follow the instructions the man gave them. They get caught in a storm, then get surrounded and then separated. Thomas is still trying to talk to Teresa in his mind, but it is not working. I’m just going to leave it at that, but I really recommend this book to readers. I love to read, and I’ve read many books so I know what I read. I suggest reading the first book and watching the movie as well. This book/series probably isn’t appropriate for reader’s under the age of 10 or 11, just because of violence, strange creatures, and anything else you would deem inappropriate.
Quotes of the Day:
“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.” ~Helen Keller
“Fear keeps us focused on the past or worried about the future. If we can acknowledge our fear, we can realize that right now we are okay. Right now, today, we are still alive, and our bodies are working marvelously. Our eyes can still see the beautiful sky. Our ears can still hear the voices of our loved ones.” ~Thich Nhat Hanh
“The more often we see the things around us – even the beautiful and wonderful things – the more they become invisible to us. That is why we often take for granted the beauty of this world: the flowers, the trees, the birds, the clouds – even those we love. Because we see things so often, we see them less and less.” ~ Joseph B. Wirthlin
That’s all for today Huskies! Remember your Husky P.R.I.D.E at school and everywhere else. Represent us well! GO HUSKIES!!!!! This is Claire Gardner signing off.
